Attorney’s Office Announce Arrest of a Most Wanted Fugitive
Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office announced on May 3, 2023, the arrest of Gregory Barnett, one of our city’s Most Wanted Fugitives. On Tuesday May 2, 2023, at 7:40 a.m., members of the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant Unit, along with U.S. Marshalls, and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit announced that Gregory Barnett was taken into custody without incident.
Charges against Gregory Barnett for shooting and killing a 31-year-old man on the 5000 block of Marion Ave on August 16, 2020, were approved by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office in November 2020. The accused has had two prior Philadelphia Probation Violation Warrants for firearms.
Through the exposure of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office Most Wanted Fugitives Press Conferences, our Warrant Unit now has an important additional tool to apprehend offenders before they have a chance to strike again. This exposure is encourages individuals to come forward to prevent any type of incident during arrests carried out at their property.
Captain Nicole Nobles worked in concert with law enforcement in the City and County of Philadelphia. By working together to execute warrants throughout Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office continues its fight against gun violence.

All criminal defendants are innocent until proven guilty. The charges against Gregory Barnett are allegations.
