PHILADELPHIA — Media Advisory

Sheriff Rochelle Bilal and the Office of the Sheriff respond to NO ICE PHILLY

Sheriff Rochelle Bilal has already made the position of the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office clear and unequivocal: The Sheriff’s Office does not cooperate with ICE, does not assist in ICE operations, and does not share information with ICE. That policy has not changed and will not change.
Sheriff Rochelle Bilal released a detailed public statement and video outlining our procedures, reaffirming that deputies are prohibited from assisting ICE in courthouse arrests. We stand by that statement and continue to operate under strict, transparent guidelines.

Our priority is the safety of immigrants, residents, observers, and everyone entering the court system. This includes ensuring deputies do not participate in ICE enforcement activities and that the Sheriff’s Office upholds its responsibilities within the courthouse.

We welcome continued in-person dialogue with all community stakeholders and at community meetings to share accurate information and address concerns in a responsible and productive manner. Our office will continue doing what we’ve always done: protecting the public, enforcing policy, and ensuring no one is targeted or harmed because of their immigration status.

The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting public safety, ensuring fairness, and upholding the rights of every individual who comes into contact with the court system.
