PHILADELPHIA, PA — Statement from the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office – February 3, 2026

The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office has been clear and consistent about its position regarding immigration enforcement.

We have publicly stated, and formally directed our staff, that the Sheriff’s Office does not cooperate with ICE in the manner alleged by outside groups. That directive remains in place.

On January 9, the Sheriff received a request from No ICE Philly to meet and discuss our policy. The Sheriff agreed to meet in good faith to review their concerns and any documentation they wished to share on Monday, February 2, 2026.

During that meeting, the group requested changes to our directive that are outside the legal authority of the Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office does not control or patrol privately owned parking lots, and does not have jurisdiction over enforcement actions that occur outside of our facilities or lawful authority.

The group also indicated they would provide evidence alleging that Sheriff’s Office personnel were collaborating with ICE. As of today, no such evidence has been submitted. Sheriff Rochelle Bilal made clear that once any documentation is received, it will be reviewed, and a follow-up meeting will be scheduled.

The Sheriff’s Office will always review credible information, but we will not take action based on claims without evidence, nor will we engage in conduct that is illegal or beyond our lawful authority.

We remain committed to operating within the law, protecting civil rights, and ensuring that our deputies act with professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
