Sheriff Rochelle Bilal Highlights Major Public Safety Gains, Modernization Efforts & Community Impact in 2024–2025 Two-Year Report

Philadelphia, PA — Today, Sheriff Rochelle Bilal, joined by senior leadership, community partners, and invited elected officials, held a press conference at the Laborers’ District Council Training Center to publicly release the 2024–2025 Two-Year Report. The presentation outlined the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office’s significant progress in public safety operations, transparency efforts, modernization of internal systems, and expanded community engagement.

Sheriff Bilal emphasized that the report reflects two years of measurable reform, strengthened accountability, and enhanced collaboration with partners across the city.

“This report is more than numbers; it is a story of progress, resilience, and results,” said Sheriff Rochelle Bilal. “Our office has worked tirelessly to keep Philadelphia’s courts operating safely, remove dangerous offenders from our streets, and remain connected to the communities we serve. Public safety is our promise, and this report demonstrates our commitment in action.”

During the press conference, leadership highlighted key accomplishments, including:

  • A 75% increase in fugitive apprehensions following the launch of the Philly’s Fugitives priority list.
  • Confiscation of 261 firearms through Domestic Violence Task Force operations and 60 additional weapons through joint task force activity.
  • Full assumption of all city eviction duties in August 2024, expanding capacity from 25 to approximately 144 weekly actions.
  • Seizure of $1.3 million in illegal drugs and 50 illegal firearms through multi-agency partnerships.
  • Deployment of major technology upgrades such as Benchmark Analytics, PowerDMS, the Guardian digital background system, Axon Taser 7, and a new tactical drone program.
  • Substantial expansion of community outreach efforts, including food distributions, health pop-up clinics, gun-safety initiatives, and neighborhood resource events.

Sheriff Bilal also announced that, as part of increased transparency, the office will begin releasing annual public reports beginning December 2026.
